Latin America Advocacy Workshop

Alongside a rapidly population, the prevalence of diabetes is increasing in Latin America at an alarming and is fast becoming one of the leading causes of death and disability. As a chronic, progressive, and systemic disease, diabetes has the most serious and consequences and burden of disease on society.

On 6-7 April 2018, the International Federation on Ageing (IFA) hosted the DR Barometer Latin American Advocacy Workshop in Mexico City, Mexico in partnership with the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and Bayer. This multidisciplinary workshop brought together 46 delegates from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Mexico to work to improve vision health outcomes for adults with diabetes in the region.
